Description: I. 'THE DOGS OF WAR. The training of dogs in warfare has proved of great value to the Belgian Army. The dogs at their training ground, and pulling machine guns along the road'. Soldiers put down food for the dogs who emerge from their kennels to eat - most are on short tethers, but some are free to run about and the men make a fuss of these animals. Soldiers adjust the harness on teams of mastiff-like dogs, - there are two animals to each small cart. One soldier gives his charges a drink - some of the other dogs are muzzled. 'EXTRAORDINARY INTELLIGENCE. The soldier in charge of the gun team, goes forward to reconnoitre, and at the signal, the dogs pull the gun to the new position'. Soldier runs forward over open field and beckons to the dogs who pull the cart forward (the gun is covered with canvas) - on reaching the soldier the dogs lie down.II. 'REVIEWING THE VOLUNTEERS. Major General Sir Francis Lloyd in the absence of Lord French reviews the South London Volunteers at Brockwell Park'. The General and his retinue walk towards the camera from their parked cars to be greeted by an officer. Inspection of the Volunteers - only some appear to have rifles.III. 'SWITZERLAND HONOURS HEROES. The French, Belgian and British soldiers follow the funeral of the late Lieut. Carlot at Montreux'. Preceded by a detachment of Swiss soldiers, a horse-drawn hearse passes right to left followed immediately by family and relatives (including two nuns) and then by French and Belgian officers - the British are not very evident, and if present must be at the rear of the procession.IV. 'ANZACS FIGHTING THE BULGARS. Australian artillery in action against the Bulgarians on the Salonika Front'. MCU of rear of 18-pounder gun as it fires from the shelter of a canvas awning. An Australian crew serve the gun which appears to be conducting a carefully aimed bombardment - though the optical sight is not removed between shots.
